It does read like a business article doesn't it? And you are researching the sector before making a market too. This is spooky. You would be welcome here any time Mr. Eden so long as you don't spoil my cover. I met a certain business journalist the other day at a posh drinks event who told my boss that I spent all day at work on reggae forums ...

I unloaded a bunch of CI mags on ebay several months ago... who knew they were collectible? :-)

Now *that* was a money-making ritual that was actually effective. ha.

I like this article for a few reasons:

1) I recently did a cleanout/sale of some stuff that used to be precious to me. In the process I realized that the value of the deterioratus of my past was not as valuable as the storage space of the present.

2) I like the fact that though you are writing about artifacts of the counter culture, this read like a business article. Your inclusion of bids and views pleased me to no end.

Ha ha! I never knew that, Lex. In my book, working in the city is infinitely preferable to what GA became... some more commentary on this over at Dubversion's place: http://dubversion.wordpress.com/2007/04/11/industrial-publishing-is-commodification/

GA wasn't always bad. In the early days it was a broad church with some good pieces in it. Even the one I wrote wasn't all that bad and not neo-fascist in any way. It just fell into the wrong hands. But then so did I. I work in the city now.
