Both disciples clad entirely in black, with sort’ve balaclava hoods.

I tried to do a piece on them for Esoterra magazine as part of my strategy for funking up the apocalyptic post-industrial “uniforms and runes” scene. But the editor wasn’t really into it (tho he did run a piece I wrote on Mother Destruction, which included lots of stuff criticising the more reactionary aspects of the genre, so fair play).

It was a pretty messy time in my life and I somehow ended up getting a job interview for Bizarre magazine before it was launched. I think the advert was headed “do you know lots of things about WEIRD STUFF?”, so that probably had something to do with it.

I ended up going in for a meeting after a night of drum n bass, drunkeness, and boy/girl crossed wires at PM Scientists. They were talking to me about running cover stories about Jon Bon Jovi’s belief in ghosts and I was talking to them about drum ‘n’ bass and occultism and zines and stuff. I think I was also preoccupied with the hangover and the boy/girl futility the night before as well.

Anyway, I somehow convinced the editors that what they needed for their dummy issue was an article about Satanic Techno.

I still have no idea if they ran with it, because after that it was the usual case of not returning calls. Which, on reflection, is probably fair enough.

On a similar theme, it’s weird to see that the almost fanatical interest in The Disciples of Belial’s first seven inch release shows no signs of abating.
