Speaking of which, I had to swear an oath yesterday. Being a heathen un-married household, the british state doesn’t fully recognise me being the father of my daughter. I’m on the birth certificate, and we all live as a family unit, but that’s still not necessarily enough in the event of divorce or death. I’m by no means a rabid Fathers For Justice supporter, but that is a bit fucked up.<\/p>\n

So anyway – it’s off to see a clerk of the court to get our “Parental Responsibility” form witnessed.<\/p>\n

“Do you want to affirm?”<\/p>\n

“Huh?”<\/p>\n

“…or swear on the Holy Bible?”<\/p>\n

[wtf?] “er, yeah! I Want To AFFIRM!”<\/p>\n

So she pulls out this laminated bit of pink card with all the words on.<\/p>\n

“What, I have to say this out loud?”<\/p>\n
