There&#8217;s a couple of texts by him on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uncarved.org\/pol\/politics.html\">uncarved.org<\/a> &#8211; one about sexual repression and politics, and one on the parallels between Jonestown and trotskyite cults masquerading as political groups.<\/p>\n<p>Brinton was one of the main people behind <a href=\"http:\/\/flag.blackened.net\/revolt\/disband\/solidarity.html\">Solidarity<\/a> &#8211; one of the best and most interesting &#8220;libertarian socialist&#8221; groups, mainly active in the 60s and 70s. They published a wealth of stuff which unpicked a load of the left&#8217;s assumptions on a whole heap of issues, as well as accounts of contemporary industrial struggles. Brinton&#8217;s stuff especially, was remarkable in its ability to be both informed and readable &#8211; sadly very rare in lefty publications&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/uncarved.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/stem2.jpg\" alt=\"stem2.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>His day job was neurosurgery, it seems! (He co-wrote the <i>ABC of Brain Stem Death<\/i>, which is surely a title as good as anything dreamt up by power electronics bands.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uncarved.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2005\/03\/workers-power.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5860\" src=\"https:\/\/www.uncarved.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2005\/03\/workers-power.jpg\" alt=\"workers-power\" width=\"257\" height=\"390\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.uncarved.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2005\/03\/workers-power.jpg 257w, https:\/\/www.uncarved.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2005\/03\/workers-power-197x300.jpg 197w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 257px) 100vw, 257px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>AK Press recently published an anthology of his writings &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.akpress.org\/2004\/items\/forworkerspower\">For Workers&#8217; Power<\/a>, which I haven&#8217;t got hold of yet and apparently there is an extensive book documenting Solidarity&#8217;s life and times in preparation as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m sad to hear that Maurice Brinton died yesterday.
